Four away wins on the trot.we gonna make the away games our fortress this year.
It happened and we have moved on. Aurier has a bit of the brain snap Walker in him, but seeing more upside. Then is the alternative option in Trippier throw in the on going training of Kyle Walker-Peters we got money in the bank and ongoing strength – well done again to the Poch and Levy Show.
Great memories Peter. Let’s hope this team can win something they certainly deserve it.
Yep an iconic match for Tottenham quality.
Nice one Martin good pics especially the Mackayfan and Dele.
Harry Kane 12 goals in 11 games since Xmas ?
I think I saw this stat or something similar – regardless pretty fancy numbers.
Also I think Harry now made +20 goals a season for last three years. A first since Greaves ? The season still going here’s hoping he will bust 20 goals in the EPL for the season.
Undefeated at WHL – want this one for full year.
Yeah cheers Pete – we will. Really enjoying this book since so I will chase up others including the ones you mention. Read another book late last yr where CJ spoke of his fondness of John the Ghost White. Want to get the JW one written partly by his son. CJ maintained a closeness with his son over time. Follow Rob White on twitter and he occasionally comes on the odd podcast – still very much connected to THFC.
Gidday Pete, great to see you popping up on social media. I’ve not enough time on the website, will try to visit more often. Have been thinking about you re: Adelaide. Got bad news as really looking fwd to chatting again. Some will say a cop out – but true story very busy at work, got a business system stage one go live on Monday 3rd April. Consultants booked end March – cannot leave staff hanging, been ugly getting this far. After this got continuation of rollout so no WHL farewell trip either.
On the upside been reading last weekend – Muller’s book from late 60’s, not finished yet but it’s been interesting. Talks up Mackay helped immensely with trf and settling in at WHL, not so flattering about Danny B, interesting as Bill Nick bought him to replace DB, crowd gave him heaps in season one, only flourished from season two (commonality with current days). Found it hard to measure up to big trf £’s.
He spoke about the Cup run of 66/67 we beat Millwall on the way to beating Chelsea in final. He nearly missed the final as had car crash post a late return from up north game, his wife badly scarred him thought broken leg but not, still he to prove fitness right up to morning of final.
Thought Johhny Haynes like a dad to him and he nearly signed for THFC but copped out when got a big rise in wages at Fulham, his regret as Fulham started to slide. Bill Nick chased Fulham hard repeatedly until they gave in, when they did he only take him after Muller’s played against Chelsea to chase a win Fulham win which they did.
Looking fwd to reading more on weekend.
We get into CL, we get a winnable group, we field weakened teams, we do not perform, we drop to EL, we say we want to win trophies (implying giving EL Cup a go), we play a STRONGER team than CL, we lose (go figure), post match players say we UNDER ESTIMATED Gent (cop out).
So now THFC mgt organise Wembley offer competitive pricing, adoring supporters look to fill Wembley – so what will the players do ?
We get to see if they are motivated by trophies or prefer not to play Thursday nights and Sunday’s.
Gent will be motivated – we will be interested but ultimately Spurs win say 2-1 and go out on away goals.
Shots on goal conversion has to improve.
It showed up again in the ‘Brough game.
Some other stats.
12 games at home – 10 wins, 2 draws. 32 points (very good)
12 games away – 4 wins, 6 draws, 2 losses. 18 points (not so good)
Away is something that has to improve – starting with the Liverpool game.
I’ll try to get back here more often don’t fancy being a muppet anymore.
Sorry I missed this from a couple of weeks ago. Is this the same chap that posts on the skyscrapercity.com website ? If so sorry I missed you for a chat.
It will be interesting to see how Poch lines things up. Does he stay with a back 3? Or revert to 4 with perhaps Son in a 3 behind H to provide Son’s speed in closing down their back 5 and causing trouble.
Also with game where both sides will hold say 50% possession we may need Rose/Walker to do some defending – they ain’t had to do much of that recently.
I’d like to see Wimmer get the Vertonghen spot but wit a back 4 could see Toby/Eric lining.
Heart say 2-1, head says they really need this one so a draw 2-2.
Best wishes mate. I’m the chap who saw you on Twitter. You will love Coffs. It has really grown up in last 15-20 yrs. I grew up on tweed coast, lived in port macq, married a girl from wauchope, now live in Newcastle. So I know the nsw coast really well.
There is a guy from port macq and there should be other Yids up there. Start looking but I can say that area is big on rugby league. If you ever come to Newcastle look me up.
Cheers to all the organising committee. Now back home getting rested for work and catching up on water.
There is something on a main starting team then it falls away pretty quickly. Certainly the Euro’s effects the squad but also effects the other two teams. So expect 60 mins of good and 30mins for a fall in std.
Perhaps our main game:
Vorm, Trippier, CCV, Wimmer, Walker-Peters, Wanyama, Mason, Lamela, Eriksen, Son, Jannsen.
Some to watch after that – Winks (I like), Chadli (perhaps more switched on), Onomah, Edwards (the young punk Messi) and Harrison ( young striker seems a talent)
they leaving friday uk time so stat from there.
Excellent merch, my personal thanksto all concernrd.
Just ordered, see you in Melb.
Great post Col. Spot on and well followed up with other posts.
For I am mighty, mighty pissed. Not only from the financial drop from second to third there was the team that benefited from us going third makes me sick. And there is the pride, Levy would be fuming. All this happened when Daniel was finalising contract upgrades to some players and the coaching staff.
You get the drift I’m pissed.
The first half vs WBA was scintillating the second half we got out muscled no doubt expecting to win.
What followed with the stolen roubles game was again super play until they raised their effort to the best all yr, we then from manager to player imploded.
After that with all the emotional and physical effort for the full yr with the draw from ManU and Leicester – players manager simply just played to end of season. Fans trumped again.
So we go fwd, only good things out the last two games was Poch, Levy know we need another 4 or 5 increases in squad strength. They say Levy will provide 30 odd mill – is this on top of transfers out, I hope so.
We nearly got rid of the Spursy effect, perhaps next yr.
That aside the stadium rebuild looks awesome and the effort goin in big.
Spooky, swap wba for another one Peter as I planning to goto the wba and soton games.
Bummer Leicester won last night at 89 mins. A draw would have been ok.
Interesting Peter, the FA cup is a strong possibility. Having a strong defence with capacity to score goals should increase our chances, your shout in Melb if we get FA cup.
Agree we got some difficult away games to come with ManU at home a real championship game. For Spam, Liverpool and Stolen Roubles I’d be stoked with the new Tottenham 7 but could easily be the old Tottenham 3.
Col a double please. 61 reversed 16.
League and either of EL or FA Cups.
Our players and Poch know something
We will also in Eng for the Stolen Roubles game and would love to get to that as well. We leave London on the tues prior Newc game.
Hey Jock been meaning to PM you for some advice about your magic access to tix.
I am booked to go with my son and some non-Spurs mates footie trip.
Already got Thomas Cook bed and tix for last half game of season. Can you imagine if we playing for the Trophy. Stevie P perhaps joining us for that one.
The thing is we land day before WBA home game but we have already got tix for Anfield that w’end – so depending upon game allocation I might be open – thus will need to get to WHL for the WBA game – SO if things are kind I was gonna sus you out for tix ? Both me and boy are Ozspurs and Lilywhite Overseas members.
Yep Peter, excellent result. It was a strong performance imo. Harry Kane with the pen, very strong. The back five all strong, Wimmer wow just stepped into Jan’s role so well. Dembele and Dier again just muscled in very well against City who tried everything to get Agureo and Silva in attacking positions.
Just an overall strong team performance, some might say Championship style. Still a lot of games to go and we know March not always been kind to us so let’s see where we are late March.
Next up Fiorentina then short turn around Palace and the Cup. Poch’s decision do I rest/rotate to concentrate on the League. All I know is we have some very good players waiting for their time – Trippier, Davies, Bentaleb, Mason, Carroll, Lamela, Chadli. Chuck in Onomah and Vorm, that is 9 players with Vertonghen and N’Jie available in a month. Good position to make decisions.
Watched the home game this morning, they looked dangerous Sterling, Aguero, De Bruyne as a front three. De Brunye out but they have Silva. How we keep them and Toure under wraps is the key for me.
We have Dembele this time, whereas he did not play last time. We will also remember we were fortunate with two favourable offside goals, they also offside for the first goal.
Another interesting comparison with the first round game was that Clattenburg was the ref, he gets the reverse game on Sunday. Interesting, but hoping the game is not decided by the ref.
For me i am big on karma – we got our CL spot with this game in 2010/11, then following yr we were flying and looked like winning and securing another top 4 – but Balotelli kicked Parker, should have been sent off, Defoe just misses a goal, Bale scores a screamer, Ledley gives up a pen (Balotelli scores post the Parker kick).
So thinking we can get this one. Who does Poch pick for Right and Left back ? Walkers pace might get him the gig. Left could go either way, but Poch might be looking for a touch more speed and effectiveness inside the 18 – that is Rose by a whisker.
Gidday Shane, welcome to the club. You need to get to the Imperial Hotel, City – that is where the Melb chapter meet. Ozspurs Facebook have a group for Melb which will give more info about stuff going on. And of course you have the Spurs down under in July to get right into Spurs in Oz.
