I’ve been a Spurs fan as long as I can remember, born a stones throw from White Hart Lane it was in the blood from the start. After a few outings to watch the reserves my dad was finally convinced to take me to watch the first team on 18 April 1987. We beat Charlton 1- 0. Clive Allen scoring the winner in the 43rd minute.
By the late 1990’s I was old enough to get myself a season ticket. Anyone who witnessed every home game between 1998 and 2003 will know what I mean when I say thank goodness for David Ginola – a glorious player, and head and shoulders better than so many of his colleagues (Milenko Acimovic I’m thinking of you!).
I moved to Australia in 2003 and joined OzSpurs straight away. These were the early days, when Spurs on the TV might happen once a month if we were lucky, and on those occasions we’d go to a night club and watch a small TV in a corner with no volume. It amazes me at how things have changed.
I joined the OzSpurs committee in 2006 as Treasurer, and in 2015 became President. I believe the whole point of OzSpurs is to bring people together, both in person to watch games, but also online – it’s my mission to make sure that every Spurs fan in Australia knows about us and can join in with us if they choose.
I’ve been to every OzSpurs National since 2005 and have made life long friends though OzSpurs all over Australia. It’s a great honour to be OzSpurs President, and of course a great deal of fun.
